Dusty Days...

So we are suppose to have a 15k race tomorrow and it is windy and dusty today, so I am guessing that most likely I will not be competing in the race.  That is one thing that really erks me over here, they still host the race if the weather is dusty.  A good comparison would be if you wake up in the morning and there is a thick fog outside, well imagine if that fog was dust.  That is what it looks like, and it drives me crazy to think the military will still put on the race knowing that these soldiers will be breathing in all that crap.  I don’t get it.  It is a HUGE safety issue as well.  Were talking potential COPD down the road, and these young and old individuals are out there running like it is nothing.  I don’t know what would make them want to run in that.  Anyways….After working in this environment, I have a new found perspective on how our government and military work.  Some for the good, but unfortunately a good portion of it is really messed up.

Okay, so this is not a political blog, nor a complaint blog, so I’ll just stick to the running thing.

There are a couple more 5ks coming up in November, so if this 15k doesn’t happen for me due to the dust, then I will just run those.  I have a new program put together which will allow me to reach the point of mileage I originally wanted to reach when I got over here, but due to work and some other distractions, I was unable to achieve that.  Now with a new sponsor, I feel I really need to step up my game.  This is an opportunity for me to take it to the next level, I know I am capable and I will achieve my goals in running.

We started doing pull ups daily here in the office, and what started off as just a couple of us, has turned into about 15 of us.  Once people started to see us out there, they wanted to get in on it.  We do three sets, two times a day, essentially we are doing a minimum of 60 to 80 pull ups a day.  I have noticed the changes it has had on my body, a more toned definition.  I like it.  The swimming has picked up a little bit as well.  I took off some time after my R and R, but have gotten back into it slowly.  They have a couple swimming events coming up here, but I am not sure if I will compete or not.  Well, I hope everyone is reaching their goals in life and in running. I will keep you posted on the latest and greatest over here.

Run Happy,

Sherrod out J
